Fishing During Monsoon: Best Seasons

Malaysia sees the southwest monsoon (May–Oct) and northeast monsoon (Nov–Mar). The west coast of Peninsular Malaysia gets heavier rain during the southwest monsoon; the east coast is worst during the northeast monsoon.

In heavy rain, avoid exposed jetties and watch storm warnings. Sheltered ponds and inland dams can still fish safely when conditions allow.

Inter-monsoon windows (Mar–Apr and Oct–Nov) often bring lighter winds and clearer water — good for shore and estuary fishing.
